Why Blue Marble Capital Management Limited and Why Now?
You're a smart investor and if you are visiting this website you are more aware than most. But how aware? I am sure that you are already being served by capable service providers as were all of our current clients before they became clients. But are some of the largest risks in your portfolio being addressed?
Not only do investors have to examine the fundamental business characteristics of the firms they invest in like management, products, profitability, and the traditional measures of investment performance but ever increasingly an examination of the environmental, social, governance and carbon emission performance is also required in order to provide a more complete risk assessment of corpororate performance.
In the past this type of analysis was called socially responsible or sustainable investment management and for some reason it earned the reputation of being "virtuous but not as profitable" as traditional investment managment which of course is rubbish. Our research indicates otherwise. We call the process "Responsible Investment" and it is simply the best of class risk management and performance assessment investment methodology anywhere.
Responsible Investment is leading investment management practice and as it evolves and gains greater support it will lead to a watershed change in the way companies access capital and how investors allocate capital, if at all, to those companies. You did not get to where you are by standing still in the past, why would you accept that for the management of your investment assets?
In 2007, after 15 years traditional investment experience, I completely changed the manner in which my firm manages client investments. Why? Because current investment management practice does not acknowledge the fact firms that do not manage their environmental, social, governance and carbon emission performance at the highest level are simply just passing on this cost to society in general while at the same time running a much higher risk of becoming a corporate fatality due to a large unforeseen event. Think Union Carbide Bhopal, Exxon Valdez Alaska, and British Petroleum Gulf of Mexico.
We hope you will be inspired to join our firm as a client and enjoy the benefits of Responsible Investment.
Sincerely,
Trevor Giles CMA CFA FCSI
