Our People

We are a small firm with a large partner, TD Waterhouse Institutional Services, and can therefore provide the services of a much larger firm with a smaller staff. Our current staff is listed below.

Trevor S. Giles CMA CFA FCSI

Mr. Giles is responsible for overall strategic direction, investment management, and business development. Mr. Giles has over 22 years business experience in finance, investment management, venture capital, and manufacturing.

From November 1999 to September 2009, Mr. Giles was Executive Vice President Investments of Westcap Mgt. Ltd, the investment manager for Golden Opportunities Fund, a Saskatchewan Labour Sponsored Venture Capital Fund with over $ 155 million under management. From November 2002 to December 2008, Mr. Giles was on the Board of Directors and a joint owner of Ralph McKay Industries Inc., North America's leading producer of tillage tools with factories in Canada and the United States.

Previous to this, Mr. Giles was Vice-President of Bromar Enterprises Ltd., a privately held management company with operations in Canada and the United States, from October 1995 to February 2000. From December 1992 to October 1995, Mr. Giles was employed at CIBC Wood Gundy Securities Inc. (“CIBC Wood Gundy”). During his tenure at CIBC Wood Gundy, Mr. Giles served in several different capacities: he was Associate Portfolio Manager from August 1994 to October 1995 providing sophisticated investment advice to high net worth clients; he established CIBC Wood Gundy's foreign currency bond trading department for Canada and served as Foreign Currency Bond Desk Manager, managing a $260 million bond book from September 1993 to July 1994; and from December 1992 to August 1993 he was a Fixed Income Specialist liaising between institutional bond traders and brokers from the largest Wood Gundy offices in Toronto and Montreal. During his time at Wood Gundy Mr. Giles worked on various projects including high yield debt, currency and rate futures, and a $750 million bond optimization project for a large client. Prior to this, he served as Investment Executive with Burns Fry Limited and was Treasury Manager with a Saskatchewan Crown Corporation.

Mr. Giles is a Certified Management Accountant (CMA), a Fellow of the Canadian Securities Institute (FCSI), and a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA). He is a member of the Vancouver, Toronto, and Saskatchewan CFA Societies, the CFA Institute and the Society of Management Accountants of British Columbia.

Ainsley J. Mackie BA

Ms. Mackie is responsible for assisting with research, fund reporting, record keeping, client management, and the firm’s compliance with the Carbon Disclosure Project and the United Nations Principles for Responsible Investment commitments.

Ms. Mackie was previously with the Bank of Montreal from 2005 to 2009 in varying capacities and most recently as a Financial Services Manager. In this position Ms. Mackie was responsible for loan support, investment sales, customer banking relationships, supervision of customer service representatives, and maintaining regulatory and compliance requirements.

Ms. Mackie received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in History and Anthropology from Okanagan University, Kelowna, British Columbia, Canada.

Sandra B. A. Babin CIM FCSI

Ms. Babin is an Associate Portfolio Manager with Blue Marble Capital Management Limited and is responsible for private client business development, portfolio management, and investment research.

Ms. Babin has over 12 years investment industry experience operating a successful Edward Jones office from January 1999 to June 2009 and previously as a Financial Advisor at Midland Walwyn/Merrill Lynch in Nelson, BC from January 1997 to December 1998. Ms. Babin also brings to the firm over 21 years independent business owner and entrepreneurial experience to the position and is well suited to address the investment requirements of business owners.

Ms. Babin studied for 5 years towards a BSc. in Kinesiology, University of Waterloo, has attained the CIM designation as issued through the Canadian Securities institute, and is a Fellow of the Canadian Securities Institute (FCSI).
